What is Lorem Ipsum?

It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).

"Neque porro quisquam est qui dolorem ipsum quia dolor sit amet, consectetur, adipisci velit..."

  • Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s.
  • It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
  • It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
  • It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout.
  • When an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

Where can I get some?

There are many variations of passages of Lorem Ipsum available, but the majority have suffered alteration in some form, by injected humour, or randomised words which don't look even slightly believable. If you are going to use a passage of Lorem Ipsum, you need to be sure there isn't anything embarrassing hidden in the middle of text.

COMMUNITY REQUESTS FOR A BLUE LIGHT EVENT

The support for QLD Blue Light comes from a collaboration spread across several affiliated branches in Queensland. These branches, overseen by a local police officer are backed by the state office in Brisbane who support them in holding Blue Light Discos, movies nights and other youth engagement activities. There are rules around the planning and implementation of a Blue Light event and the health and safety of participants and volunteers is paramount. Some of our rules are shown below, this list is not exhaustive.
  •  Participants must be under the age of 18.
  •  All volunteers must hold a current Blue Card
  •  No drugs, alcohol, smoking or violence
  •  No anti-social behaviour i.e swearing or inappropriate dress
  •  No pass-outs
  •  Participants must be collected by a parent or guardian
  •  A risk assessment must be completed before each event
  •  Police and civilian supervision is essential
We are happy to assist schools and not-for-profit organisations hold Blue Light events wherever we can and this is much easier if there is an affiliated branch in the area. You would need to provide a suitable venue and additional volunteers that meet our Blue Card requirements. We do have some branch volunteers that are willing to travel to help communities host events and as they are all volunteers, they cannot be instructed to do so. Most branches charge an entry fee at their regular events, this is used to cover insurances, prizes, hall hire, repairs and maintenance on equipment etc and although there is no set fee for a branch to travel to assist, a donation could be made to compensate them for the costs. Schools, communities, and sporting clubs cannot run their own activity and call it a Blue Light event as the use of the term 'Blue Light' must not be used by anyone other than an affiliated Blue Light branch. If you would like to host a Blue Light activity and your organisation can meet these requirements, send us an email and we can distribute your request to the branch for assistance.
