Qld Blue Light was invited to be the beneficiary of Rock Under The Clock, an event that puts the ’fun’ back into fundraising!
Having outgrown it’s traditional location in the Sandgate Town Hall (hence rock under the ‘clock’) the November event was held at the Sandgate Bowls Club. Over 240 patrons attended for a night of great company, fabulous live music and dancing.
Sandgate born and bred, The Sonics are the oldest band in Australia with the original band members. Formed in 1961 by four members of the same Sandgate High School class, Jim Hansen and Annette Smith joined at a later date and Jim Hansen & The Sonics were born.
The night’s theme was ‘British Invasion’ referring to the influx of British Rock during the 60’s. The band was fabulous, faithfully replicating the hits of the era. If the crowd on the dance floor was any indication, they were certainly hitting the right notes.
It takes more than the band to make this night a success, and Rock Under The Clock has a group of dedicated volunteers who put in countless hours making sure their guests have the best time possible.to make the night a success.
A lot of hard work culminated in a $7,500.00 donation being made to QBLAI. Funds will be spent on delivering youth programs in Sandgate and surrounding suburbs.
Many thanks to the entire Rock Under The Clock team, Jim Hansen & The Sonics, our Blue Light volunteers on the night, and of course the event’s many sponsors.
